Marijuana Rehab

Marijuana may not cause fatal overdoses, but that doesn't mean it can't destroy your life. Millions of people in Ohio use marijuana, and while most won't develop a problem, around 6% of users aged 12 or older meet the criteria for marijuana addiction.

Armada Recovery provides marijuana rehab for everyone who has tried to quit on their own and can't, and is worried about their future. We know that the prospect of rehab can be frightening, but real change is possible with the right kind of help.

What Is Marijuana Rehab?

Marijuana rehab begins after you stop using marijuana and get through the early withdrawal period. By this point, the drug may be out of your system, but the reasons you kept using it are still there. Marijuana withdrawal won't put you in physical danger, but it can be very mentally and emotionally addictive, and this can make quitting incredibly hard.

Most people with marijuana issues downplay them, tell themselves it's just weed, and not a real drug problem. You may have thought you could quit whenever you wanted, but when you tried, life felt too hard to face without marijuana.

In rehab, you will look at how marijuana became part of your daily life and what it was helping you manage or escape from. You will learn to sleep without weed, manage stress without it, and get to a place where you don't need marijuana just to feel okay.

Do You Need Marijuana Rehab?

Marijuana has now become so normalized that it can be understandably hard to recognize that you need help. But if you are reading this page, you probably already have worries. These questions can help you see whether marijuana is right for you:

  • Do you smoke every single day, usually starting the moment you wake up?

  • Have you tried to quit before and made it a few days before going back?

  • Is marijuana the only way you can sleep or calm down?

  • Are you avoiding activities or people because you can't smoke around them?

  • Do you lie about how much marijuana you’re using?

  • Has someone you care about asked you to stop?

  • Do you feel anxious or irritable when you're not high?

  • Are you spending money on weed you can't afford?

If these questions cause you to pause, our team can explain all the help available.

Marijuana Rehab at Armada Recovery

Our Akron and Dayton centers run marijuana rehab as an outpatient program. You come in for therapy sessions, do the work, then leave and test what you learned in real life. Here's what happens during treatment:

12-Step Facilitation

Most people have heard of Alcoholics Anonymous, but don't know there's Marijuana Anonymous, too. In facilitation sessions, you learn what happens in MA meetings and even get started on the initial 12 steps. When you're ready, we can then connect you with MA meetings around Ohio.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

The point of CBT is catching yourself mid-excuse, when you’re telling yourself you'll sleep better if you smoke, or you'll quit next week. CBT makes you stop and ask whether the thought is really true, or whether it is your addiction talking? Once you can tell the difference, you can decide not to believe every thought your brain throws at you.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT is really about getting through the next hour without smoking. When you're restless and bored, and weed is all you can think about, DBT helps you ride out those feelings without relapsing. This is crucial because small actions like mindful breathing can interrupt the spiral before you convince yourself that one joint won't hurt.

Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Nobody can make you quit weed. MI sessions are where you figure out why you actually want to stop, rather than someone pushing you into it. You will talk about what marijuana has done to your life, and what you'd gain by stopping. Once you have identified these reasons, it becomes harder to justify going back to weed.

What Are the Benefits of Marijuana Rehab?

Marijuana rehab gives you what willpower alone can't provide. Just some of the main benefits include:

  • A structured plan instead of just promising yourself you'll quit next week.

  • Other people who know exactly what marijuana withdrawal feels like and how to get through it.

  • Accountability, so you won’t give up when things get hard.

  • Real answers for the underlying causes of marijuana addiction.

  • Practical guidance on what to do at 2 am when you can't sleep, and all you want is to smoke.

  • A reason to keep trying if you slip up (incredibly common during recovery, and never a reason to give up).

What Happens After Marijuana Rehab?

Quitting weed long-term takes more than just finishing a single rehab program. Armada Recovery gives you follow-up support because the first few months are when most relapses happen.

Before your last session, you sit down and identify every situation that's likely to pull you back. These are often boredom, certain friends, not being able to sleep, or stress at work. Then you make a relapse prevention plan with responses for those moments.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Our Partial Hospitalization Program is open for people who aren't ready to jump back into regular life yet. You will live there temporarily while you keep working on recovery skills, which gives you breathing room before facing all your triggers at once.

Alumni & Ongoing Support

Our Alumni Program means you don't lose everyone you met in treatment, so you can stay in touch and reach out when things get difficult. We will also help you find Marijuana Anonymous meetings around Ohio if you want extra local support.
